5 Tips For An Easy and Stress-Free Session
Family photo sessions can feel a little overwhelming, but they don’t have to be! I’m here to make the experience as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. With just a little planning and the right mindset, you’ll be amazed at how fun your session can be. Bonus: we'll also get the most beautiful images! Here are my top five tips for keeping your family session relaxed and stress-free.
1. Make Sure Everyone Has Eaten
Hungry kids (and parents!) are not happy campers. Make sure everyone has eaten recently, and pack a few snacks just in case. Choose snacks that are light-colored and won’t stain mouths or clothing. Mini marshmallows are a great option! Having a little something to munch on can be a lifesaver if anyone needs a quick mood boost. (Snacks also make for a great bribery tool.... did you know each little bite can recharge their smile muscles or their superhero powers??)
2. Plan Outfits Ahead of Time
One of the easiest ways to reduce stress is to have outfits chosen and laid out before your session. Coordinating colors without matching too closely works best, and soft, neutral tones photograph beautifully. I recommend that mom chooses her outfit first because feeling great about yourself will help you love your images even more! The whole family should be comfortable in what they are wearing to ensure you feel natural and have photos that really represent you. If you need help deciding what to wear, I’m happy to help as much as you need, whether it’s offering guidance on colors or even sending you links to order new pieces. We can find a style that feels natural and suits your family’s vibe.
3. Arrive Early
Give yourself plenty of time to get to the location so you’re not feeling rushed. Arriving early means your kids have time to warm up to a new environment or even run around a bit before we start. This extra time helps everyone feel more relaxed and ready to have fun.
4. Consider your family's routines
Think about your family’s routine when choosing your session time. Avoid booking during a little one’s nap time or too close to dinner. If your session is planned for later in the day and you’re planning to eat out afterward, give your kids a light snack beforehand to keep them happy!
5. Relax and Let Your Kids Be Themselves
Your energy sets the tone! If you’re calm and happy, your kids will pick up on that and be more relaxed too. Don’t stress about getting “perfect” shots. I’m here to capture your family just as you are! Let your kids be themselves, and trust me to find the beautiful moments in the chaos.
